A comparison is only honest if both sides were measured the same way. That's the whole pitch behind Template's render pipeline.

The three calibrations

1. Ground plane

Every car sits on the same horizontal surface at coordinate y=0. No tilted lots, no implied perspective. The wheel contact patches define the plane, not the camera.

2. Camera distance

We use a fixed focal-length and a fixed distance from the subject's center. Wide-angle distortion is one of the easiest ways for two cars to silently disagree on size — we don't use it.

3. Lighting

A consistent three-point lighting rig. Shadows fall the same direction across the catalog so silhouettes read cleanly when you stack two cars next to each other.

Why this matters

Dimensions on a spec sheet are easy to lie about with photography. A 5cm difference in track width disappears if one car is shot from slightly closer. Calibrated renders mean the visual story matches the spec sheet — which matches reality.

Trust is built by removing the easy ways to cheat.
